This was a charming story view spoiler [ although the younger sister trying to murder the hero- more than once- was a tad scary. How is she not a psycho?? It is no A Lady's Code of Misconduct but for an amnesia trope it is an engaging read! Oct 02, Robin rated it really liked it Shelves: , series , historical-romance.

Sterling Harlow was on his way to confront Miss Farleigh after receiving her letter taking him to task for never replying to his dying mother, when he suffers an accident. Now Sterling has no memory or his name and no memory of his life, but he is thankful for his beautiful fiancee who is helping him through this trying time.

Sterling Harlow is a hardened man who was sold by his father to the Duke of Devonbrooke at the age of seven. His mother never came to retrieve him.

He blames both of them for the abuse he suffered at the hands of the Duke and will never forgive them. But when he loses his memory, he gets a chance to live his life as it should have been lived, with a new family and the love of a woman who cares about him.

I loved seeing Sterling's transformation at the hands of the Farleigh family. I look forward to reading about the younger Farleigh sister in the next book in the series. My rating: 4 Stars. Sep 07, Summer rated it did not like it Shelves: historical-romance , romance , did-not-finish. The main heroine in the story was portrayed, in my opinion, not very well. It was like she was supposed to be this pure saint-like woman and she lies to the male lead pretending to be his fiance as he has amnesia.

Maybe it's just me but that seems a little shady. Perhaps if she was not supposed to be such a pure and saintly character it wouldn't have seemed so off to me. Or at least the situation could have been funny. But the further I went into this the less funny it became. Not to mention, as The main heroine in the story was portrayed, in my opinion, not very well. Not to mention, as a less than religious person, there was a lot of talk of God and going to church in this book. It didn't exactly get preachy but I tend to generally stay away from books where religion is involved to the extent here.

So far I've liked other books from this author but this was definitely not my cup of tea. This just didn't have a believable romance, story and character development. Not the best I've read by Medeiros, but I am curious about Lottie's story. Dec 09, Leigh rated it liked it Shelves: virgin-heroine , historical-romance , amnesia , pretending-to-be-someone-else , mistaken-identity. I recommend reading Open Country by Kaki Warner if you enjoyed this book or not.

Fun at the beginning but somehow there are too many things that would float Freud's boat. Jun 05, Keri rated it it was amazing Shelves: read , romance-historical. This was a charming, fun read, just sitting on my TBR for years. There were some funny, poignant moments and some really sad moments, but well worth it to find this timeless classic at your USB or library. Mar 27, Kathie katmom rated it it was amazing.

This, too, was lovely. I seem to remember reading a twific like this, and am now wondering if it was taken FROM this. It was cute. Our girl was trying so hard to make life good for all of her dependents.
